Super Advanced Intelligent Tape (SAIT) is the latest offering in high-capacity, high-performance recording, targeted at enterprise storage markets. SAIT uses proven helical scan recording technology coupled with a half-inch single-reel cartridge to provide 500 GB of native (un-compressed) data storage capacity per tape.

SAIT provides 30 MB/sec of sustained native data rate backing up 108 GB per hour. The embedded ALDC data compression provides a nominal packed capacity of 1.3 TB (1,300 GB’s) of data per cartridge making SAIT the highest storage capacity tape drive system.

SAIT leverages Sony’s proven AME (Advanced Metal Evaporated) media with a new controlled air-flow recording deck design to deliver a recording technology foretelling extreme reliability. SAIT tape drives offer 500,000 hours MTBF and 30 years of projected media storage life.
