The
P2000 automated tape library sets the standard for unsurpassed
performance, reliability and economy. With high availability and
scalability options that are unmatched in the industry, the P2000 meets
the requirements of data-intensive operations from main street to
cyberspace. Its flexible design allows attachment in traditional
SCSI-based environments, with an embedded Fibre Channel or Ethernet
option to accommodate enterprise-class Storage Area Networks (SANs) or
Network-Attached Storage (NAS) environments.

DESIGN ENSURES MAXIMUM
PRODUCTIVITY The
P2000 is the first mid-range tape library with the same
high-availability features found in high-end server and RAID systems
designed to keep the library on-line all the time. The P2000 offers
redundant AC power sources, power supplies and fans, and
user-replaceable, hot-swap drives, power supplies and fans. In addition,
the P2000 includes Quantum|ATL's reliable IntelliGrip™ precision
cartridge handling system proven in thousands of Quantum|ATL libraries.
MASSIVE
PERFORMANCE AND CAPACITY FOR DATA-INTENSIVE APPLICATIONS The
P2000 delivers tremendous performance and capacity. A single P2000
library supports up to 10 DLT 7000 drives and up to 198 cartridges for a
native data transfer rate of 180 GB per hour and a native capacity of
6.9 TB. In an eight-hour window, a single P2000 can backup 1.4 TB
(native). The P2000 can also scale to 52.4 TB of native storage and 1.3
TB per hour performance (native). Add more capacity and performance in
the future by upgrading to new drive technology such as DLT 8000, LTO™
Ultrium™ and Super DLTtape™.

Prism Storage Architecture™ makes the P2000 "future proof".
Harnessing the power of a PCI expansion bus, the P2000 makes it easy to
upgrade to Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks (SANs) and add
sophisticated web-based library management.
PRISM STORAGE OPTIONS
Quantum|ATL’s
Prism Storage Options are tools for integrating a P2000 into enterprise
infrastructures. The Prism Fibre Channel option allows a SCSI library to
be easily converted to Fibre Channel enabling SAN connectivity. The
ALERT Notification option provides real-time monitoring of critical
library components allowing IT managers to configure the library to
provide instant e-mail notification of library anomalies. To further
simplify library management, an SNMP agent integrates with major network
management frameworks, such as, Computer Associates® Unicenter TNG®
and HP® OpenView2. The Storage Consolidation Option allows IT managers
to consolidate, reduce costs, and centralize the management of
heterogeneous environments by partitioning a single library into
multiple virtual libraries.
