Capacity and performance for
entry level requirements
With 40 GB capacity and 4.8 MB/s sustained data transfer rate, with 2:1
data compression, Sony 11000 series drives were the first DDS-4 tape
drives to be offered in the market. The 11000 series capacity and speed
are a great match those demanding high-end applications such including
mid-size to large network systems.
Backward compatibility
with DDS-2 and DDS-1 tape formats
Sony DDS-3 tape drive not only read and write to 125 meter, 24 GB (with
2:1 compression) data cartridges, but also are fully read/write
compatible with both DDS-2 and DDS-1 tape formats. Backward
compatibility helps protect your investment in the valuable data you
already have stored on DDS-2 and DDS-1 data cartridges, while delivering
the increased capacity and performance of DDS-3 technology.
Improved air flow improve
cooling while reducing dust contamination
Super Air Flow Environment (SAFE) on all Sony DDS-4 drives provides
improved cooling of the tape and drive mechanism while reducing dust
contamination. Special vents draw cooling air around the tape and drive
mechanism, reducing drive temperatures while keeping dust particles from
penetrating the drive itself.
Integration kit includes
installation essentials
The 11000/BM integration kit includes the basics need to integrate your
new DDS-2 drive into your existing system. Accessories include a
pre-installed 5.25-inch bezel to allow installation of the drive in a
standard 5.25-inch drive enclosure, a spare 3.5-inch standard bezel, a
DDS cleaning cartridge, and a user manual to help with getting started.
Sony Hyper MetalT head
greatly reduces error rates
The unique Hyper Metal head design incorporated in Sony 9000 series
DDS-3 tape drives reduces error rates by up to 90% over conventional
ferrite MIG heads. Reduced error rates means more efficient operation of
your tape backup systems and greater protection for your critical data.
