Sun StorageTek™ T9840C Tape Drive With an average access time of just 12 seconds, the StorageTek™ T9840C tape drive fills the gap between high-performance disk (access in milliseconds) and traditional “capacity-centric” tape drives (typical access in one or two minutes). The T9840C tape drive is the cost-effective alternative, not as a replacement for high-speed disk, but as a logical complement that makes sense in the real world of tight IT budgets and ever-changing storage needs. It is ideal for IT departments that need to provide high data throughput and fast recall without the expense of disk. Two mainframe versions are available, one with a native FICON interface and one with a native ESCON interface.
