Nexsan E48VT vs Nexsan E48 and Nexsan E60VT vs Nexsan E60

The Nexsan E48™/E48V™/E48VT™  and the Nexsan E60™/E60V™/E60VT™ are: 4U , rack-mountable RAID storage systems which can hold up to 48 or 60 SATA, SAS, or SSD data disks. The base models of the Nexsan E60™ and Nexsan E48™ use: 3Gb/s SAS for internal communication between the RAID Controllers and hard disks. The V and VT variants use 6Gb/s SAS for internal communication. The VT variants also have a turbo card installed in each RAID Controller which optimizes sequential writes in parity-based RAIDs. There is no upgrade path between the base models and either the V or VT variants. Aside from the difference in internal communication speed and the presence of the turbo card in the VT units, there is no operational difference between the base models and either the V or VT variants. Nexsan E48VT and Nexsan E60VT are available for purchase from Sunstar Company. For addition information please call (800) 663-5523 or contact us online

SAN, NAS or both?

So you have a need for a SAN – or do you? Clearly sometime a SAN is the right choice, block level storage requirements such as for a database. Then there is often the need for for file based storage, general files that we work on – daily: word, excel etc. In the last three […]

How to get optimal performance from Oracle Database servers.

Getting optimal performance from Oracle Database servers, can be challenging for their supporting storage infrastructure. Our goal; get Oracle Databases to run at optimum levels of performance even when faced with challenging workloads Production systems must be able to: Quickly process revenue-producing transactions around the clock Simultaneously executing demanding I/O operations like backups, database replication/failover, and […]

SAN Storage Required?

It seems as if at some point in time we all need to purchase some SAN Storage (Block). In some cases we can make do with a NAS (File) but if you need to run a database of some significance a SAN will be required. So what is a SAN? A storage area network (SAN) […]

Nimble Storage Issues an Adaptive Flash Challenge

Flash certainly has disruptive potential in the data center, but do you really need to pay for flash-only storage, when you could realize better price-performance and capacity with the Nimble Storage Adaptive Flash platform? That’s a crucial strategic question facing enterprise storage buyers today, who must support more and more performance-intensive applications and workloads – […]

Dot Hill SAN storage available with self encrypting drives

Need additional data security on your drives? Dot Hill offers self encrypting drive (SED) capability that protects your data when removed from their original array. Available in 1.2TB small form factor (2.5”) or 4 TB large form factor (3.5”), these SED drives provide instant data destruction via cryptographic erase. In normal use, you do not need to maintain authentication keys […]

SAN Storage

A Storage area network, or SAN, is a high-speed network of storage devices that also connects those storage devices with servers. It provides block-level storage that can be accessed by the applications running on any networked servers. SAN storage devices can include tape libraries, and, more commonly, disk-based devices, like RAID hardware. A SAN must be highly […]
